With more than two decades of experience in asset management, private equity, accounting and corporate finance, Eric joined Matter in 2010 to lead the firm’s continued growth and expansion. He got his start as a CPA with Arthur Andersen after graduating from Southern Methodist University with a degree in Accounting, and minor in Economics. Building on a foundation of working with CEOs of entrepreneurial businesses, Eric was recruited to a Dallas-based private equity firm. He spent several years there focused on growing the firm’s portfolio companies through collaboration and innovation with company founders. The founder of one of the firm’s most successful portfolio companies convinced him to move to Denver in 2004 to build and run a private single family office, overseeing more than $1.4 Billion in assets. Eventually, Eric’s passion for the family office point of view, and unlocking the opportunities it provides wealthy families, led him to Matter. His commitment to scaling the family office model has helped shape the firm we are today.
As a Partner and Managing Member, Eric is responsible for leading the strategic, operating, and financial management activities for the firm. He also serves on Matter’s Investment and Wealth Planning & Coordination Committees.
Outside the office, Eric is Chairman of the Rocky Mountain Chapter of YPO, and serves on the Investment Committee of the Downtown Denver Partnership. Colorado suits this avid outdoorsman just fine. Vacations are spent with his family in the Rocky Mountains, or to enjoy fly-fishing, backpacking and upland bird hunting.
