Kathy’s vision for a family-focused financial service company originated from her early career at Chase Manhattan Bank in New York City, where she helped develop and deliver one of the first financial education and planning centers in the country. In 1990, she founded the firm that would become Matter Family Office with just two employees. Her commitment to the integration of independent high-quality investments, deep planning and coordination, financial education, governance and philanthropy have helped Matter evolve into the Multifamily Office industry leader that it is today.
Kathy works with Matter’s talented client teams daily in the service of complex, multigenerational families. In addition, as a Partner and Managing Member, her role as founder is to align Matter’s history and future with the firm’s core purpose to help families realize their most important goals in an intentional, integrated and meaningful way. Kathy has a BA in History from Duke University and has been a longtime CFP® designee.
While dedicated to her client families, Kathy’s first love and priority is her own family – her husband, children and grandchildren. She also enjoys engaging in her home community as Chair of the St. Louis Children’s Hospital Foundation Finance Committee. In the past she has been very active on the boards of the St. Louis Boys and Girls Club and the St. Louis Zoo. At the end of the week, Kathy looks forward to her Saturday morning run with friends, a 20-year tradition. The rest of the weekend may include a round of golf with her husband and dinner with friends. And Monday often starts with a fresh batch of her famous chocolate chip cookies for her “family” at the office.
