Matter welcomed Thierry in November 2013, after he packed up his family along with his seven years’ worth of family office and wealth management experience, and left Washington D.C. for St. Louis. He honed his investment due diligence skills while at Convergent Wealth Advisors, where he was responsible for monitoring 30 individual managers and more than 41 different investment strategies as a member of the Investment Strategy Group. His move to GenSpring Family Office allowed him to grow into a direct client-facing role, as he was responsible for the day-to-day portfolio oversight, tactical allocations and liquidity management for more than 20 families. He currently serves as a member of Matter’s Investment Committee.
Thierry’s casual demeanor cloaks a diverse international background. Born in Hong Kong, Thierry spent his early years in Singapore and Australia before his family moved to the U.S. Having the opportunity to travel between Asia, Australia, his father’s native France and his mother’s native Iowa has given Thierry a deep appreciation for a globally diverse perspective. He attended College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where he earned a BA in Economics from Wake Forest University and met his wife, Kelly.
Thierry is a member of the Investment Committee for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of St. Louis. He’s also an avid football fan – see Dallas Cowboys – and enjoys playing most sports, the most difficult of which he says is keeping up at home with his two sons, Charlie and Mason. In a nod to his French heritage, Thierry also enjoys cooking, particularly when it means he can fire up his grill.
