Matter Family Office today announced that Founder and Managing Partner Katherine “Kathy” Lintz has received the 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award from Family Wealth Report. The honor was presented at the publication’s annual gala in New York on April 30 in front of industry leaders, Matter colleagues and journalists. Lintz is only the third female recipient of the award in its 13-year history.
Family Wealth Report also recognized Matter Family Office under the category Marketing or PR Campaign for its newly launched website that brings clarity and dimension to the firm’s truly integrated advisory model.
The Family Wealth Report Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes industry veterans for long-standing dedication to the North American wealth management and family office sectors. Since its inaugural awards in 2014, recipients have demonstrated enduring leadership and meaningful impact across the industry.
“This year’s Lifetime Achievement Award honors a career that combines pioneering industry innovation with decades of trusted leadership. From developing one of the country’s first financial education centers to founding a multifamily office serving families nationwide, she has shown how independent advice, long-term trust and values-driven planning endure across generations. With over $10 billion in assets under advisement, exceptional client retention and a deep commitment to community leadership—from hospitals to cultural institutions—their work exemplifies integrity, vision and lasting impact in both finance and society,” said a spokesperson from Family Wealth Report.
Lintz founded Matter Family Office in 1990 with two employees and a clear vision for integrated, independent advice. Over more than three decades, she has helped shape the firm into a national multifamily office serving more than 150 families, with offices in St. Louis, Dallas-Fort Worth and Denver. Her approach brings together investment management, strategic wealth planning, family learning and communication, tax, philanthropy and project management to support complex multigenerational families.
“Kathy’s leadership has defined who we are as a firm and how we serve families,” said Charlie Willhoit, chief executive officer at Matter Family Office. “Her commitment to independent advice, deep relationships and purpose-driven planning continues to guide our work every day. We are honored to celebrate this well-deserved recognition.”
Lintz began her career at Chase Manhattan Bank in New York, where she helped develop one of the country’s earliest financial education programs at The Chase Exchange. She later became an early Certified Financial Planner and built a fee-only comprehensive planning practice in St. Louis.
In addition to her work with client families, Lintz is active in community leadership. She serves as chair of the St. Louis Children’s Hospital Foundation finance committee and has contributed to organizations including the St. Louis Boys and Girls Club and the St. Louis Zoo. She is also a frequent speaker and contributor to industry publications including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s and Bloomberg.
Lintz continues to work closely with Matter client teams and plays an active role in guiding the firm’s culture, values and long-term direction.
