Matter Team
Chris Wrench, CFP®, CEPA®
Chris has spent nearly 25 years helping successful families thrive with wealth. Before joining Matter in 2026, he held senior positions at Wells Fargo Private Bank and Comerica Wealth Management, where he specialized in developing custom strategies and solutions for high-net-worth families and company founders. His deep experience in estate, succession, and financial planning—along with expertise as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and Certified Exit Planning Advisor—supports his thoughtful, high-touch approach to guiding families through wealth transitions of all kinds.
Chris was drawn to Matter’s focus on working with families to reach their long-term financial visions (not just addressing the short-term priorities) and driving meaningful outcomes across generations. He enjoys building trusted, lasting relationships with Matter families and helping them build financial knowledge and confidence, navigate complex financial landscapes, structure their wealth intentionally, and position their families for lasting success.
Chris is also deeply involved in his community and committed to giving back. He is a member of the Wake County Estate Planning Council and proudly serves on the boards of the Alice Aycock Poe Center for Health Education (which he attended as a child) and the WakeMed Foundation—an organization close to his heart.
Outside of work and community service, you’ll often find Chris on the sidelines of a baseball field or basketball court, cheering for one of his three kids. He believes team sports help young people develop essential life skills and attributes playing football, baseball, and basketball growing up to his continued passion for teamwork and collaboration. He also loves to cook (with a focus on smoked meats), collect vintage vinyl, tackling woodworking projects, and watching the 49ers with his family. In the precious free time, he and his wife have together, they enjoy a night of entertainment at the Durham Performing Arts Center.
