Matter Team
Melissa Linn, CPA/PFS, CFP®
Melissa brings more than 20 years of experience helping successful families, business owners, and C-level executives maximize the opportunities wealth provides. As the child of a business owner, she has a unique perspective about the financial and family dynamics that are involved with long-term planning and can help families navigate a path to create financial success and harmony. Prior to joining Matter in 2026, Melissa held client-focused roles at Comerica Wealth, Wells Fargo/Wachovia, Deloitte, and Stancil & Co, where she guided high-net-worth families and business owners through everything from tax compliance to customized wealth planning solutions.
At Matter, she leverages this background and her expertise as a Certified Personal Accountant (CPA), Personal Financial Specialist, and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ to lead strategic conversations with Matter families around everything from estate planning and wealth transfer to business transitions. With a penchant for project management (Melissa is pleasantly persistent), she enjoys seeing Matter’s client families realize their goals—and our clients can count on her to prioritize what’s most important to them.
A graduate of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BS in business administration and an MS in accounting, Melissa remains actively involved in the CPA community. She is a member of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), North Carolina CPAs (NCCPA), and the Wake County Estate Planning Council. She also serves on AICPA’s Personal Finance Planning (PFP) credential committee and helps plan the PFP ENGAGE conference, which brings CPAs together to learn and connect.
When Melissa has free time, she enjoys exploring Raleigh’s greenways with her husband and their Boston terrier, Hazelnut. While she’s an avid traveler, and loves to disconnect and discover new places, she also treasures weekends in her hometown sharing meals with family and friends.
