Christopher Hunter, JD
Chris manages legal, compliance, and risk for Matter and provides strategic advice to our firm and Matter clients. A member of the IWP team since 2019, he brings over 25 years of experience in business, government, law, and education to Matter.
Prior to his work at IWP, Chris served in the U.S. Department of Justice working in criminal and national security programs as a Senior Trial Attorney with the Criminal Division, Fraud Section, an Assistant United States Attorney with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida, and a Special Agent with the FBI. In the private sector, Chris led a compliance unit for a Fortune 500 company and counseled businesses, executives, and boards in private practice at national law firms.
Alongside his work at Matter, Chris remains actively engaged civically. He is a Nonresident Senior Fellow with the Global and National Security Institute at the University of South Florida and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Tampa. He previously served as a Nonresident Senior Fellow with the Atlantic Council, Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security, and an Adjunct Professor of Law at Stetson University College of Law. Chris is a board member of Florida Springs Council, a nonprofit dedicated to protecting Florida’s springs.
Chris earned a BA from Boston College and JD from Boston College Law School, where he was editor-in-chief of the Boston College Environmental Affairs Law Review.
